~ Conference Theme ~
Creativity and Entrepreneurship:
Imperatives for sustainable Global based Knowledge Economy

The 8th IEF conference will be organised by the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, India, and Essex Business School, University of Essex, UK, in collaboration with the OECD the LEED Programme.

The conference theme covers a myriad of issues that are preoccupying the minds of entrepreneurs, policy makers, and researchers for sometime, all round the world. The multiple manifestations of creativity in the development of new products, the generation of new services, better forms of communication, the development of networks, and the innovative use of technologies, allow for the unexpected confluence of ideas, resources, and different types of business activities.

I had the great pleasure of travelling out to India with two colleagues from CRESCO-east, Bev Booth and Christine Robinson. Each of us were not only invited to participate as delegates we also had the honour of being invited to present on Panel Discussion during the event.

On a personal note the whole experience was extremely worthwhile - I had taken the decision to go to India as a blank slate and absorb all that India and the conference had to offer. Based on the experience I have to say that India and the conference had much to offer, on many levels. I am still going through a 'debriefing' within myself, as there was much to take in, in a very short time, before flying back to the UK in time for Christmas; and intend to write in more detail about the experience.
The conference covered a range of ideas, concepts, theories and practice with the underlying theme of: "Creativity and Entrepreneurship: Imperatives for Sustainable Global & Knowledge Based Economy"; a theme which as a entrepreneur with numerous creative interests as well as interests in education and the development of 'social capital' through venture enterprise is very close to my driving passions...

The panel discussions and workshops were enlightening and thought provoking. The networking opportunities were of the highest standard and it is my sincere hope that new synergies, opportunities and partnerships will evolve amongst those of us who attended.

The conference was well organised and managed. The people in India were helpful, polite and efficient; we were well treated on every level, and felt very safe when out and about sight-seeing and shopping in Ahemdabad.

To all the organisers, partners and sponsors of the 8th IEF, consider yourselves applauded for hosting an outstanding conference!
