Working in partnership with my colleague Suzanne Mulvehill, we are currently developing a cultural exchange program for the people of Southend-on-Sea UK, Lake Worth USA and Sopot Poland.
All three communities have one main thing in common - A Pier, Southend's Pier is the longest pleasure pier in the world, Lake Worth's pier while not as long is notable as it is so close to the Gulf Stream, and Sopot being famous for being home to the longest wooden pier in Europe. All three communities also have a vibrant creative community.
The idea for this cultural exchange is to share and learn from each other, where our communities have things in common, and to provide opportunities for the development of collaborative works on a variety of levels.
This project is in its infancy and more will be puiblished about it in due course.
